  • Job Summary: Rosin Preservation is seeking a full-time Historic Rehabilitation Specialist to work on historic tax credit and National Register projects.
  • Job Qualifications:
    • Degree in historic preservation or very closely related field. Recent graduates with a historic preservation master’s degree are invited to apply.
    • Experience working with the historic tax credit and/or National Register programs and/or a local design review program is preferred.
    • Must be able to write architectural descriptions and read architectural plans.
    • Understanding of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and the National Register Criteria is mandatory.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
    • Must be a self-starter able to multi-task and to work both independently to meet deadlines and collaboratively to achieve project goals.
    • Previous experience working in a small business/office environment is desired.
    • Ability to visit project sites that may present physically challenging conditions.
    • Ability to travel, including overnight stays 3-4 nights per month on average (all travel expenses reimbursed).  Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
    • Tetanus vaccine is required for all personnel who perform site visits.

This full-time position is based in our Kansas City office.  Rosin Preservation provides a creative and collaborative small business work environment. Remote work arrangements will be considered for candidates who exceed the preferred qualifications and have 2+ years of professional experience.

Specific tasks will include:

  • Preparing federal and state historic tax credit applications, including site visits, field documentation, preparing photographs, providing SOI guidance to clients/design teams, reviewing architectural drawings, and describing existing conditions and proposed scopes of work.
  • Evaluating the National Register eligibility of historic properties and preparing formal eligibility assessments, National Register nominations, and similar documents (including building descriptions, property histories, historical contexts, and statements of significance).
  • Archival research (online and in the library).
  • Coordinating with clients, internal and external project teams, and reviewers from state and federal agencies.
