  • Job Summary: The Summer Preservation Intern will lead a small class of high school students in daily preservation-related activities around The Woodlawn Cemetery.
  • Job Qualifications:

    Education Requirements: Must be pursuing a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation or a recent graduate of a program relating to Historic Preservation.

    Mature and responsible
    Patient
    Able to adapt to situations quickly
    Genuine interest in outreach and community development
    Must be comfortable speaking to a large group of high school interns

Woodlawn Conservancy, Inc. is a 501c3 organization charged with the mission to enhance Woodlawn Cemetery as a natural, educational, and cultural landmark, and to build a community of supporters dedicated to preserving Woodlawn for the enjoyment of present and future generations. The Conservancy preserves the landscape and architectural treasures of the cemetery and illuminates the lives of those interred in this National Historic Landmark.

The preservation intern will supervise the cleaning of small stone monuments, the planting of seasonal flowers, and the creation of research projects by high school interns. The preservation intern will work directly with the program manager to plan activities and trips for the high school interns. Most importantly, the preservation intern will create a booklet that summarizes all of the activities and valuable experiences that the program provided. This booklet will then be published and shared with the program sponsors.
