Preservation Texas empowers Texans to preserve their cultural heritage, and stewards significant buildings, collections, and cultural landscapes to ensure their permanent protection.
Preservation Texas (PT) is seeking a summer intern to help research and develop a comprehensive history of our organization. As we plan to launch a fundraising campaign in conjunction with PT’s 40th anniversary next year, we want to have a better understanding of the organization’s past and the people who have shaped it. Work will be part-time in our office on the square in downtown San Marcos, Texas. The intern will work from 15-20 hours per week over 10 weeks for a maximum of 160 hours beginning on June 3, 2024.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with sorting, filing, and organization of PT’s organizational archives
- Research and update contact information for PT’s past board members and staff
- Gather information on PT’s history and impact using organizational records, documents, and other primary sources
- Draft a written narrative that highlights key events, milestones, and the contributions of individuals who have played significant roles in shaping the organization
- Prepare archival documents, photographs, and other materials for future digitization
- Complete a post-internship report detailing the intern’s experience working with PT
- Other duties as assigned
