🔗Archeological and Historical Interpretation Intern – 800 hours

Website National Park Service/NCPE Internship Program
The selected intern will work with the Midwest Archeological Center’s Archeological advisor to Arkansas Post National Memorial in Gillet, Arkansas, to gather data on the involvement of African Americans in historic developments at Arkansas Post. Historic resources indicate that African Americans have been present at the Post since the early Historic period, but details are sparse. The selected intern will assist in addressing this problem by expanding the interpretive story to include community involvement, updates to interpretive media, and new museum exhibits. The internship will develop materials built upon the historical, ethnographic, and archeological investigations that have preceded interpretation. Lesson plans, distance learning modules, and oral history transcriptions will result, and the park will incorporate these results of the overall project into museum exhibits. The work will be performed at MWAC in Lincoln, NE. The intern will be provided with a housing and transportation allowance.
