    The Landscape Preservation Graphic Artist intern will work with a team of landscape architects, preservation planners, historians, and resource managers. The applicant should have strong organization skills, classwork or experience in graphic design, park planning, cultural and natural resource management, landscape architecture, environmental science, and/or historic preservation.
    Qualifications include skills in hand sketching, graphic design, 3-d modeling, photography, and diagramming; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and/or Sketchup; familiarity with Geographic Information Systems is beneficial; experience working with a team as well as working independently to complete project components; and an interest and ability to work indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions. Candidates should be prepared to submit a five-page portfolio of their work when contacted by the supervisor.
    US Citizenship required.

Website National Park Service/NCPE Internship Program

Located in Concord, Lincoln, and Lexington Massachusetts, Minute Man National Historical Park spans 1,000 acres and preserves the landscapes, sites, and buildings associated with the opening battle of the American Revolution, including the Barrett Farm, the destination of British Troops on April 19, 1775.

The intern will contribute to a high-profile project, the opening of the Barrett Farm Unit in advance of America 250, the commemoration of the opening battle of the American Revolution. The intern will work with the park’s Integrated Resources Program Manager and Cultural and Natural Resource Division team leaders. The internship has three components:

(50%) Assist with the completion of an illustrated Cultural Landscape Report and Treatment Plan for the Barrett Farm Unit within Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, MA. Prepare illustrations and layout for the Barrett Farm Unit Cultural Landscape Report. Illustrate existing conditions and alternative futures for 64-acre farm property. Utilize hand sketches and graphic software including Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, etc.

(25%) The intern will also gain exposure to an array of natural and cultural resource management projects by assisting other interns with their projects including archeological studies, museum object curation, and natural resource management projects with field work at parks in the Metro Boston area.

(25%) The intern will actively participate in project meetings, trainings, interact with park visitors and volunteers, and meet with resource management professionals.

This is a full-time, 30-week on-site position. A housing and transportation stipend is included. Low-cost housing in the park may be available.
