The National Park Service (NPS) Archeology Program (AP) at the Washington Office supports regions and parks through coordination and technical assistance of policy, guidance, training and more. This internship supports parks’ interpretation and education of archeology by developing web-based materials that showcase archeology throughout the National Park System. The intern will be supervised by the AP’s lead on outreach and education.

The Archeology Web Intern will assist with identifying, researching, and writing stories about NPS archeology projects for nps.gov for public audiences. The intern will work with their supervisor to create a list of projects, communicate with archeologists in parks to collect research materials, write short articles and choose images, and revise articles as necessary. The internship is a good opportunity to learn about NPS archeology from behind the scenes and develop writing skills for a public audience.

Qualified NCPE interns who successfully complete their internships may count their position towards earning a Public Land Corps (PLC) Non-Competitive Hiring Authority certificate.  Once earned, the PLC hiring authority certificate may be used to apply for eligible Federal temporary, term, or permanent positions.
