Website Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans

The PRC is a non-profit who mission is to preserve New Orleans’ historic architecture, neighborhoods and cultural identity through collaboration, empowerment and service to our community.

Shape the future of one of the most architecturally and culturally significant places in the world.  Since 1974, the Preservation Resource Center (PRC) has been dedicated to the preservation of New Orleans’ unique and diverse neighborhoods, its authentic culture, and its singular joie de vivre. As the Executive Director, you will lead a highly skilled team of ten and oversee and manage a $2 million budget to expand this mission.

Summary 
The PRC currently has an annual revenue of approximately $2 million and a staff of ten. The Executive Director (ED) is the single point of accountability for all operations. ED reports to and is accountable to the Board of Directors. ED‘s primary responsibility is ensuring the financial well-being of the PRC through fundraising. ED is responsible for executing the PRC’s vision and mission through management of the Associate Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization.  ED shall foster positive working relationships with government, non-profit, and private entities whose missions intersect with the mission of the PRC.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain programs that target donors beyond the large donors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with large donors both locally and outside of Louisiana.
  • Maintain and promote Mission and mission-driven programming.
  • Maintain existing and increase memberships.
  • Manage the Associate Director.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with organizations whose missions intersect with the PRC’s Mission.
  • Report to the Board of Directors.

Specific Activities

  • Vision and Mission
  • Develop programming to execute the PRC mission.
  • Assist the Board of Directors in updating the vision on an annual basis.

Revenue Streams and Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement major donor programs.
  • Develop and implement fundraising programs for all other donors.
  • Develop and implement membership drive programs.
  • Develop and implement revenue-generating programs such as book publications.
  • Develop and review budgets.

Supervise, support, and direct staff:

  • Manage staff, including weekly leadership meetings across various functions within the organization.
  • Lead staff meetings and department meetings regularly.
  • Mediate disputes as needed.
  • Perform annual staff reviews..
  • Hire and terminate staff as needed.

Board of Directors

  • Participate in Executive Committee and Board of Director’s meetings.
  • Present Director’s Report at each Board meeting.
  • Participate in subcommittee meetings as needed.

 PRC Liaison

  • Serve as the PRC’s primary liaison.
  • Attend PRC events throughout the year, including but not limited to, Beams and Brews, Holiday Home Tour, neighborhood association meetings, and Spring Home Tour.
  • Meet with state and city officials regularly.
  • Attend conferences and government meetings regularly to stay current on events that impact the PRC’s mission and to promote PRC.
  • Meet with leaders of other organizations as needed to promote the mission of the PRC.
  • Write periodic column for Preservation In Print magazine.

Salary Range and Position Type

The salary range for this position is $95,000 – $135,000 annually depending on candidate’s qualifications. This is a full-time, salaried position.  As such, it is not eligible for overtime pay.
