  • Job Summary: The American Battlefield Trust, the nation’s premier historic land preservation nonprofit, seeks a dynamic, independent Senior Accountant to work on a variety of accounting functions as a team member in the Office of Finance.
  • Job Qualifications:
    • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years’ experience demonstrating significant accounting responsibilities.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and well as a team member.
    • Can effectively manage multiple priorities
    • Possesses a positive, can-do attitude and seeks new challenges and continuous self-improvement.
    • Excellent skills in MS Excel.  Knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting software a plus.
    • Outstanding communication skills – verbal and written.

  • Process all accounts payable activity including entering invoices, preparing check runs, and fielding vendor inquiries.
  • Record accounts receivable and pledge receivable transactions.
  • Analysis of monthly general ledger account activity, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across various accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit work papers for year-end audits with outside auditors.
  • Maintain various spreadsheets to support financial transactions and analysis of expenses.
  • Work on special accounting projects as needed.
