Architectural Resources Group (ARG) is a full-service architectural and historic preservation planning firm with offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Portland. We work in a wide variety of sectors and building types including hospitality, national and state parks, cultural and performing arts, higher education, and civic projects. We design new buildings in sensitive historic contexts, and work to preserve and conserve older ones. We are recognized as a JUST Organization through the International Living Future Institute.

We are looking for a talented Intermediate Preservation Architect/Designer to join our dynamic and collaborative Portland office, which is located in the LEED certified historic Morgan Building in downtown Portland. Full or 3/4 time, starting immediately. The Salary Range is $70,000 – $95,000 for the full-time position, depending on experience.

What you will do:

  • Work in all project phases. There are opportunities to work continuously on one project, or multiple projects
  • Collaborate with design teams, clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Develop detailed Revit models to be utilized for design and construction drawings, as well as developing technical specifications
  • Work independently on projects with senior supervision
  • Communicate and coordinate with colleagues, consultants, and clients
  • Help with onsite condition assessments

Candidates should have:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Architecture with a demonstrated interest in Historic Preservation and/or Material Conservation
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Experience in the technical aspects of historic properties and material conservation;
  • Experience in historic preservation including historic research, building assessments, construction documents, and report writing
  • Licensed or actively pursuing licensure
  • Willingness/ability to conduct building conditions assessment on site, including boom lifts and scaffolding
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to foster a positive and effective team environment
  • In addition to Revit, proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp and MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
