Atlantic Staffing provides staffing for many of the State of Maine's government short and medium-term contract staffing needs.
Description:
This is professional services work involving the administration of a program of state grant funds for the restoration and preservation of historic community buildings in Maine. These historic buildings are those that are owned by units of government or non-profit organizations and are listed in, or have been nominated to, the National Register of Historic Places. Responsibilities include preparing program materials, distributing grant materials, scoring and administering grant applications, providing technical assistance, and tracking and closing grants. In addition, the work involves regular communication with applicants and grantees. This is a part-time (20-30 hours/week) hybrid position without benefits. A computer and software will be provided, and travel is reimbursed at the state rate. Work is performed under limited supervision.
Representative Tasks:
- Oversee state and historic preservation/restoration grant program in order to evaluate applications for approval/denial and ensure compliance with contract terms and project specifications.
- Formulate guidelines, and/or procedures in order to implement the program provisions and to make recommendations to supervisors.
- Advise members of the public in the preparation of grant applications.
- Review grant proposals in order to determine compliance with state grant rules and regulations.
- Review and evaluate project drawings, specifications, and funding requests in order to determine if proposed projects comply with program requirements, and to make recommendations on applications.
- Manage contract paperwork, tracking, and funding in order to make sure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Prepare written, graphic, visual and web-based material about the bond grant program.
Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Access and Excel.
- Experience with grants management.
- Ability to review budgets, and track and submit invoices and expenditures.
- Working knowledge of Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
- Working knowledge of historic building methods and materials from the mid-eighteenth century through the mid-twentieth century, preferred.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate written, photographic, and map data relating to historic sites.
- Ability to prepare graphic and visual materials.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
