Responsibilities:
The Preservation Architect/Architectural Conservator will be responsible for providing a full range of services related to documentation, conditions assessment, and design of conservation treatments for historic and existing buildings. The applicant for this position will be responsible for assessing the condition of historic and existing properties (many designated Landmarks or Landmark-quality buildings); identifying the root cause of the building material deterioration; developing treatment recommendations; preparing Construction Documents for interior and exterior restoration, renovation and repairs; and, actively participating in all aspects of the construction administration phase (reviewing the Contractor’s work, mockups and submittals, RFI, Bulletins, etc.). In addition, the work often includes historical research, filing the proposed work with regulatory agencies (LPC, SHPO, NPS, etc.); field and laboratory materials testing; and technical report writing.
