  • Job Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have many of these skills and competencies:

    Knowledge and ability to operate commercial zero-turn riding mowers.
    Skill is needed to facilitate work that requires constant attention to working space and environment.
    Knowledge and ability to operate gas-powered equipment and other related equipment or tools and measuring devices to accomplish assigned tasks.
    Ability to use simple hand tools such as hammer, saw, brush and roller, screwdriver, wrench, trowel, electric drill/saw and other power tools in a safe and acceptable manner.
    Ability to read and skill to follow oral and written instructions and established work procedures related to repair and assembly assignments.
    Ability to learn simple, routine tasks relevant to specific trades and to follow established safety practices.
    Ability to perform routine equipment/shop maintenance tasks.
    Ability to operate light vehicles and equipment such as pick-up truck and utility tractor.
    Knowledge of custodial/janitorial work practices and the safe and correct use of cleaning chemicals used in janitorial duties.

Website National Park Service/NCPE Internship

The successful candidate will work with the Park Facilities team focusing on historic preservation and how it affects the operational aspects of the Park. Specifically, the intern will help care for historic buildings and historic landscapes using a “hands-on” approach. The intern will develop skills related to pruning trees and shrubs in a historic landscape, caring for historic gardens, and minor repairs to historic buildings. Other duties may include exhibit area maintenance, assisting with interpretive programs and events, and tracking facility management activities.

Located at Oakland and Magnolia Plantations in Natchez, Louisiana, the most intact French Creole cotton plantations in the U.S.
