A Cultural Resources Technician position is available with Colorado State University’s (CSU) Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This entry-level position will support the Cultural Resources Management (CRM) Program at the U.S. Air Force Academy, CO with a combination of fieldwork and office tasks. The technician will help draft National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documents and assist with correspondence with State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and other stakeholders. Additional duties include visiting historic buildings and archaeological sites to gather data, conduct inventories and assessments, perform site inspections or monitoring, and identify cultural resources.

The technician will be exposed to a wide variety of CRM tasks and potential duties will include but are not limited to the tasks below:

National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) support including Section 106 compliance
State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) correspondence and/or documentation
Help write and edit technical reports
Historical and/or archival research
Assist in scanning and properly storing digital and physical records, artifacts, and other materials
Historic building and archaeological inventories and/or assessments
Site inspections and/or monitoring
Cultural resource identification and condition assessments
Use Cartography, StoryMaps, other GIS products to create maps and other documents
Update and/or maintain the Integrated Cultural Resource Management Plan (ICRMP)
