One Cultural Resources Technician (Seasonal Worker, Full-time, 40 hours/week) position is available with the Colorado State University (CSU) Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position
will provide entry-level training and experience on a range of cultural resources projects supporting the Cultural Resources Management (CRM) program at Avon Park Air Force Range (AFR), Florida.
Potential work activities may include but are not limited to the tasks below:
• Organize, categorize, and curate documents and photographs for the cultural resources database using MS Access
• Use GIS software to create probability mapping and modify current maps to make user-friendly
• Help with cemetery marker maintenance with the potential for conducting Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
• Assist with planning archaeological surveys to be conducted in 2025
Candidates must:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, historic preservation, cultural resource management, archival management, or a related field
• Have completed an archaeological field school
• Possess knowledge of Florida archaeology
• Be familiar with database entry and curation processes
• Have proficiency in MS Office programs and Access in particular
• Be comfortable working in areas with biting insects and wildlife, including snakes, bears, hogs, and alligators (snake boots will be provided)
• Be able to lift up and carry 50 pounds across uneven terrain
Preferred Skills:
• Have experience working with GIS and GPR
• Have first aid and CPR certification
