  • Job Summary: The Historic Preservation Specialist will support the Historic Preservation Program by accomplishing tasks at Fort Bliss, Texas required by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and associated federal regulations.
  • Job Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or related field OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or related field, and two years professional experience in a related field.
    Shall have a thorough understanding of the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
    A concentration in military history is preferred.
    Must be well-informed on current best practices of historic preservation.
    Must possess the ability to conduct archival research.
    Must be knowledgeable in the predominant building styles, methods, and materials used in the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries.
    Must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly in English, and able to read and write effectively in English.
    Must be able to quickly produce drawings and sketches to clearly articulate recommendations for individual projects.
    Be proficient in the use of Microsoft® Office suite of software in particular MS Teams®, MS Word®, MS Excel®, MS OneNote®, and MS Access®.
    Must be capable of working independently or as a team as circumstances dictate.
    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
    Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
