  • Job Qualifications:

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage a portfolio of 15–20 exterior capital projects, from planning through closeout (projects range in value from $10,000 to $5MM)
    • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules that align with University goals and compliance standards
    • Oversee design, procurement, bidding, contracts, and construction execution
    • Ensure all regulatory, financial, and administrative aspects of projects are delivered to high standards
    • Collaborate with Campus Operations, Finance, Public Safety, and external vendors
    • Oversee compliance with NYC DOB regulations, including Local Law 11 (FISP) and Local Law 126 garage and parapet wall inspections

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; advanced degree or certifications preferred
    • 5+ years of project management experience in building envelope, preservation work, and Façade Regulatory Requirements (FISP and LL126) in the New York City tristate region required
    • Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and relevant construction tools
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Project Manager, Exteriors & Historic Preservation

Columbia University is seeking a Project Manager to lead capital construction projects focused on building exteriors and historic preservation across our campuses.

As part of the Exteriors and Historic Preservation group within the Capital Project Management (CPM) division, you’ll help maintain and restore the University’s infrastructure ranging from façade repairs and roof/window replacements to hardscape and plaza renovations. Our team delivers high-impact construction projects that ensure the preservation and restoration of facilities that are central to the University’s heritage.
