    To qualify for this Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist position at the IC-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

    Leading a team in the delivery of environmental and historic preservation compliance;
    Reviewing staff environmental compliance determinations with regulations (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, Endangered Species Act, etc.); and
    Coordinating and monitoring work related to Environmental and Historic Preservation at the federal, state, tribal or local level.

Duties
What will I do in this position if hired?

In this Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist position, you will serve in the Region 5 Mitigation Division.

Typical assignments include:

Serving as the Environmental and Historic Preservation Advisor onsite at FEMA declared disasters.
Coordinating between disaster field leadership and Region 5 environmental leadership.
Supervising a team of Environmental Planners and Historic Preservation Specialists.
Overseeing environmental & historic preservation compliance reviews for FEMA Public Assistance disaster grants.
Conducting or initiating EHP training at the local, state, Tribal, and regional levels, including developing materials.
Disseminating technical and regulatory information through briefings, documents, workshops, conferences, seminars, and/or public hearings.
Providing technical assistance to FEMA Public Assistance staff during project formulation and grant processing.
