  • Job Summary: The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is pleased to share a unique opportunity for a Facilities Technician at Taliesin West, a National Historic Landmark, UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of Arizona’s most visited tourist destinations.
  • Job Qualifications:

    High school diploma with experience in construction carpentry trade.
    Ability to perform skilled labor including rough and finish carpentry
    Ability to perform basic carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing, mechanical system repairs etc., with little or no supervision.
    Ability to use basic and precision hand tools and utilize precision measuring instruments.
    Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as construction drawings, safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to foster cooperative relationships with staff.
    Ability to understand and follow Foundation and departmental policies and procedures.
    Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work effectively individually or as a team member in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and unexpected events or delays.
    Ability to work up to 40 hours a week as scheduled and occasional nights and weekends as required by supervisor.
    Valid AZ driver’s license.
    Familiarity with OSHA safety guidelines and regulations and/or willingness to undergo such training.

Working within a team environment on individual and group assignments, this position requires skills in handling such work as routine and deferred building and grounds maintenance projects, rough and finish carpentry, masonry and concrete repair, troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, and equipment repair as well as completing restoration and light construction projects. The Facilities Tech must possess a flexible, adaptable, service-oriented attitude as work supports the Foundation’s programs and staff.

Essential Functions:

Assists with the day-to-day restoration, light construction, and maintenance of facilities and grounds as directed by supervisor.
Uses a variety of hand and power tools to perform maintenance work within multiple construction trades.
Reports need for equipment repairs and equipment replacement outside of scope or ability.
Assists with emergency and unscheduled repairs sitewide as needed or directed by supervisor.
Works on assignments requiring judgment, initiative, and teamwork to resolve problems and make recommendations.
May be called upon to oversee projects and leader-assigned staff, as well as assist in the training of other members of the team, while in the field and/or on an episodic basis.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service and understands standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required to perform duties.
Ensures documentation is complete and includes reference materials such as photographs and logs for shared daily task lists and ongoing major project files.
Maintains an organized work environment.
Other related duties as assigned.
