Website Friends of Historic Preservation - Iowa City, Iowa
Friends of Historic Preservation (FHP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to preserve historic properties and neighborhoods in Iowa City and Johnson County, IA. We accomplish this through educational efforts, advocacy measures, and hands-on preservation. We also deconstruct houses that are slated for demolition and sell the architectural materials and items at our Salvage Barn, thus keeping thousands of pounds of historic and still useful materials out of the landfill.
Attends Board of Directors’ monthly meeting, assists in scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, and preparing reports to the Board. Assists Board committees to complete objectives. Works with treasurer and accountant on annual budget and monthly expenditures. Maintains website, email and social media accounts. Coordinates quarterly newsletter. Promotes membership and maintains membership records. Attends annual Iowa Preservation Conference and other training programs as directed by the Board. Travel, lodging, and registration expenses to be paid by FHP. Reports to Board President or designee.
