Job Description: CEO & President

Reports to: Board President and Executive Committee
Purpose of Position: The CEO & President is the chief professional staff of HSF, responsible to the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities:
Oversees Historic Savannah Foundation and Davenport House staff
Establishes organizational plans, and procedures
Directs and coordinates all approved activities of HSF paid staff
Assures that the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee are kept fully informed on the condition of the Foundation on all important factors affecting the Foundation
Responsible for organizational policy plan and execution
Plan, formulate and submit policies and programs for approval by Executive Committee
Support committee and volunteer performance
Monitors community issues, guides advocacy and interpretation in the community – along with the staff preservationist
Propose and manage HSF budget
Responsible for financial and budget development, management and reporting
In cooperation with the finance committee and treasurer, develops, recommends and upon approval, operates within an annual budget. Ensures that all funds, physical assets, and other property of the Foundation are appropriately safeguarded and administrated. Executes bylaw provisions with respect to an annual audit.
Staffs the organization with responsible and effective staff and assures their continued professional development
Directs and coordinates all approved programs, projects and major activities of the staff. Recruits, hires, indoctrinates, trains and motivates Foundation staff. Obtains maximum utilization of staff by clearly defining their duties, establishing performance standards, conducting yearly performance reviews and maintaining competitive salary structure. Responsible for all promotions and terminations.

Provides the necessary liaison and staff support to committee chairs and committees to enable them to perform their functions.
Represents the Foundation in its advocacy programs throughout the community. Maintains good relationships with city government and its agencies, state and national preservation groups, the business community and neighborhood preservation groups; and promotes the understanding of the Foundation’s objectives.
Plans, coordinates and conducts a public relations program to enhance public acceptance of and enthusiasm for preservation.
Plans and conducts annual membership meeting.
Keeps official minutes of the Board of Trustees and other official meetings of the organization, provides security for all files, legal and historic documents, membership and mailing lists.
