  • Job Summary: For more than 60 years, the Jekyll Island Museum has served as the steward of Jekyll Island’s past, preserving its stories, structures, and artifacts. The Jekyll Island Museum currently seeks motivated, task-oriented participants for its internship
  • Job Qualifications:
    • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license
    • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s History program (and in senior year), or enrolled in a Master’s level Historic Preservation program, or be a recent graduate (2 or less years) of Historic Preservation or related program.
    • Pre-arranged course credit, if applicable, is the responsibility of any student and his or her institution of learning.
    • Hands-on experience preferred
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
    • Have a willingness to work hard and get dirty
    • Have ability to communicate effectively and listen to directions

Under direct supervision, interns will be expected to participate in a variety of hands-on preservation related projects while working in a public setting.

  • Assist in preservation efforts throughout the Jekyll Island National Historic Landmark District
  • Conduct condition assessments, surveys, and documentation of historic structures
  • Participate in hands-on carpentry, masonry, finishing, and stabilization projects
  • Assist with research, special projects, and other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a cooperative and pleasant work relationship with fellow employees, volunteers, and guests of Jekyll Island
