The Architectural Historian will provide technical assistance for project compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The Architectural Historian will assist with efforts to identify and evaluate historic buildings, structures, objects, and historic districts, along with determinations for eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and findings of effect. The Architectural Historian will also assist with the completion of other historic preservation projects, such as National Register nominations, Historic American Building Survey/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER), documentation, interpretive panels, and traveling exhibits.
This position can be based out of any of our Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts or Connecticut offices. Hybrid schedules can be an option.
Responsibilities:
– Work with our cultural resources team to conduct architectural history field surveys and complete resource inventory forms and reports
– Assist with reporting for compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
– Conduct historic research at local, regional, and digital repositories
– Assist with coordinating project review with state and federal agencies
– Travel throughout New England with some travel outside the region
– Opportunity to work with other services across the company
