The Louisiana Office of Cultural Development houses the LA State Historic Preservation Office, which is responsible for administering federal mandated programs through the National Historic Preservation Act. The office is located in Baton Rouge, LA and is part of the State of Louisiana Government.

Assists in implementing State and Federal tax credits for restoring historic commercial and income producing buildings in designated districts. Acts as a first point of contact for constituents interested in pursuing application to the program. Reviews applications for the programs: recommends designation of historic status and reviews rehabilitation plans for conformance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Recommends approval or denial of proposed work and completed work, and instructs applicants on how to bring non-compliant projects into conformance with the Standards. Conducts and/or participates in site visits to potential, ongoing, and completed rehabilitation projects. Assists in detailed technical inspections at construction sites. Assists in negotiations with architects, developers, property owners. Creates and maintains digital files. Presents information to constituents.
