Join our team of architectural historians and preservation consultants! Recent graduates from graduate programs in historic preservation are welcome to apply, as well as more experienced architectural historians. A master’s degree in history or historic preservation-related field is strongly preferred.
We are seeking an individual with excellent writing skills and knowledge of architectural history, building materials, and State and National Register guidelines for evaluating historic structures. An ideal candidate is one who works well within a team but is also able to manage individual projects alone. Above all, we seek a candidate with good communication skills. Project management experience is preferred but not necessary.
The role entails completion of HABS/HAER, NRs, historic inventory surveys, historic context studies, and providing historical consulting for State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) project reviews. Work tasks will include; coordinating with and advising clients on State historic preservation review requirements, performing field work and research, writing reports, evaluating historic significance/integrity and effects to historic properties. Section 106 experience, graphic support and GIS skills are a plus.
Candidate shall reside on Oahu, Hawai‘i currently, or be willing to relocate here soon.
Salary: Commensurate with experience. Range: $65k-$85k
