The Harpers Ferry Center for Media Services of the National Park Service (NPS) works across disciplines to enhance visitor experiences at parks across the country by using relevant, compelling media. The successful candidate will work with HFC Technical Services staff for digital asset management to assist in processing physical media collections including, cataloging, sorting, and boxing. The intern will also work with the NPS’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform.
Duties may include digitization, file transfer, cataloging, adding metadata and keywords, and developing schemas and taxonomies. Collections include audiovisual media, publications, printed materials, digital materials, and photographs. Training on the NPS’s DAM system is provided to accurately catalog born-digital and archival assets. The intern will work with staff across departments to ensure proper and complete capture of digital assets and related metadata. Located in Harpers Ferry, WV.
This position is part of the Internship Program administered by the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE). The program is a partnership between the National Park Service and NCPE. Qualified NCPE interns who successfully complete their internships may count their position towards earning a Public Land Corps (PLC) Non-Competitive Hiring Authority certificate.
