Website National Park Service/NCPE Internship Program

The Harpers Ferry Center for Media Services of the National Park Service (NPS) works across disciplines to enhance visitor experiences at parks across the country by using relevant, compelling media. The successful candidate will work with HFC Technical Services staff for digital asset management (DAM).

Duties may include file transfers, cataloging, organizing, sorting, adding metadata and keywords, and developing schemas and taxonomies. Collections include NPS Sign and Wayfinding files, audiovisual media, print publications, digital materials, and other multimedia. Training on the NPS’s DAM system is provided to accurately catalog born-digital and archival assets. The intern will work with colleagues across departments to ensure proper and complete capture of digital assets and related metadata. This is a remote position.

This position is part of the Internship Program administered by the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE). The program is a partnership between the National Park Service and NCPE. Qualified NCPE interns who successfully complete their internships may count their position towards earning a Public Land Corps (PLC) Non-Competitive Hiring Authority certificate.  Once earned, the PLC hiring authority certificate may be used to apply for eligible Federal temporary, term, or permanent positions.
