This in-person internship is with the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) and duty stationed at Arlington House, the Robert E. Lee Memorial (ARHO). The Museum Program is responsible for maintaining a library collection primarily focused on the history of Arlington House Plantation, the Life of Robert E. Lee, the Washington-Custis-Lee Family, African-American History (including that of the previously enslaved at Arlington House), and Arlington National Cemetery.

The successful candidate will work closely with the GWMP Museum Curator with support from the National Park Service (NPS) Library Program to catalog the ARHO library collection into the NPS LIBRIS system and make the collection publicly searchable. Additionally, the intern will organize and describe reference material maintained in the library to make it more accessible for researchers.

This position is part of the Internship Program administered by the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE). The program is a partnership between the National Park Service and NCPE. Eligibility requirements apply; visit https://preservenet.org/ncpe-internships/ for details and instructions on how to apply.

Qualified NCPE interns who successfully complete their internships may count their position towards earning a Public Land Corps (PLC) Non-Competitive Hiring Authority certificate.  Once earned, the PLC hiring authority certificate may be used to apply for eligible Federal temporary, term, or permanent positions.
