About the Harpers Ferry Center for Interpretive Media: Harpers Ferry Center (HFC) has worked for more than 50 years to enhance visitor experiences at National Park Service (NPS) sites through the use of relevant, compelling media. It offers products and services for the NPS that reach across disciplines and, in doing so, helps parks shape visitors’ experiences from the moment they choose to visit.  The Division of Media Development provides support for the creation of exhibits, waysides, accessibility best practices, audiovisual programs and equipment, historic furnishings reports and implementation, signs and digital media. Our media is designed by leading experts, features innovative solutions, aligns with the NPS brand and vision, and integrates accessibility.

Your internship experience: The successful candidate will work with historic furnishings curators to re-shelve, organize, inventory, cull, and manage the historic furnishings library at the Center in Harpers Ferry, WV. The intern will assist with furnishing project research, digitization of furnishings project files, and adding content to the HFC’s Historic Furnishing’s Sharepoint site. The intern will work under the supervision of the Staff Curator.

The internship start date is flexible but ideally begins in August or September. The exact date will be negotiated with the supervisor. This full-time, temporary position is 30 weeks in length and provides an excellent introduction to the many details involved in museum work, especially as it relates to the NPS’s mission of public education.
