National Park Service/NCPE Internship Program
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona State Office is seeking an intern to assist the Collections Manager with researching, inventorying, and assessing artifact collections housed in various locations around the state of Arizona. This position has a high probability of working with Ancestors and cultural items of importance to Tribes. The position will focus on the examination of the sources of collections and is likely to involve extensive work with accession records as well as catalog, archival, and GIS databases. The position will include work with historic and prehistoric archaeological collections and may include assisting with the drafting of regulatory documentation and correspondence required under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The intern will have the opportunity to collaborate and interact with BLM archaeologists and cultural specialists, as well as curators and collections staff at outside repositories.
The position offers the opportunity to broaden the successful candidate’s understanding of museum collections management, Native American cultures in the American Southwest, and the rich cultural heritage of Arizona. Located in Phoenix, AZ with some possibility of travel to Tucson, Kingman, and Flagstaff.

Qualified NCPE interns who successfully complete their internships may count their position towards earning a Public Land Corps (PLC) Non-Competitive Hiring Authority certificate.
