  • Job Summary: The Easement Program Coordinator is a part time position to assist in overseeing the a portfolio of more than 250 properties with preservation easements located primarily in the Philadelphia region.
  • Job Qualifications:

    EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • A minimum of two years working in historic preservation, urban planning, architecture, architectural history, commercial real estate or similar
    • An educational background in historic preservation, architectural history, city and regional planning or related fields.
    • Familiarity with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
    • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and communication skills
    • Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Proven success in developing mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external partners.
    • Required computer and technical skills: Data management applications, MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google (Google Docs)

    PREFERRED QUALITIES

    • Willing and able to travel locally, preferably using own vehicle (travel reimbursement provided)
    • Working knowledge of preservation principles and best practices, particularly related to historic properties.
    • Knowledgeable about historic architectural styles, building construction methods, and terminology. Knowledge of common issues with the exterior conditions of historic buildings is preferred but not required.
    • Proficiency in reading architectural plans.
    • Self-starter, able to work independently.
    • Impeccable integrity, judgment, and discretion along with a professional demeanor.
    • Interpersonal style that elicits trust from leadership, funders, staff, and partners.
    • Ability to work as a team member and work effectively with diverse people.
    • Ability to make decisions, using qualitative and quantitative inputs.
    • Demonstrated awareness of and value of cultural competence.

The Easement Program Coordinator is a part time position that reports to the Director of Preservation Services. The person filling this position is expected to assist in overseeing the Preservation Alliance’s portfolio of more than 250 properties with preservation easements located primarily in the Philadelphia region, and to pursue new easement opportunities as necessary. The successful candidate will be flexible, able to think strategically, and able to work with others in a collaborative and supportive yet direct manner. In addition, the successful candidate will be a dynamic, people-centered, proactive individual with strong technical and communication skills.

  • Perform inspections on easement properties in accordance with established practices incorporating detailed notetaking on conditions and supplementing the notes with high-quality photography.
  • Prepare reports in a cloud-based database that details the conditions issues noted during inspection and making recommendations to the property owner for addressing the noted issues.
  • Communicate regularly in a cordial and professional manner with property owners regarding their easement including report follow-ups and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain cloud-based database with current information on ownership, insurance, and property details.
  • Maintain digital and hard-copy files ensuring all information is organized, backed up, and easy to find.
  • Assist Director of Preservation Services with drafting new easement documentation, including making site visits, writing architectural descriptions, and photography.
  • Review requests for alterations to easement properties for compliance with easement agreement terms and Secretary of Interior Standards.
  • Provide staff support to the Easement Committee, which meets monthly to consider property owner requests for alterations and new easement donations.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned to support organization operations.
