    R&B is looking for a qualified and skilled carpenter, preferably with carpentry training from a trade school, such as the American College of Building Arts, Thaddeus Stevens, the North Bennett Street School or similar, with at least five years of experience working on historic buildings.

R&B specializes in the sympathetic preservation and enhancement of historic buildings. We can install new features that match original features that are in poor condition or lost. Our specialist carpenters and suppliers can achieve any preservation goal for a property. In many cases, historic buildings need a degree of modernization to meet the needs of current owners. Additions or energy efficiency upgrades are warranted. We can add features and services, building new rooms and wings, while maintaining the historic character. With our knowledge of historic architectural styles and building traditions, we can guide the decision-making process to achieve a harmonious appearance. We work on National Historic Landmarks and National Register-listed properties. Our clients are private, commercial, institutional and governmental owners of historic properties. We work all over Chester County, Delaware County, western Philadelphia, and northern Delaware.

An R&B Carpenter is expected to plan and execute carpentry tasks using a full range of woodworking techniques and tools, including traditional methods. He/she must be able to work with limited instruction, work on one’s own, if needed, and work as a team with our other carpenters.

Our work is mostly performed on site, though we have a shop for work that would more efficiently be undertaken in a controlled environment.

Pay: $30.00–$50.00 per hour, depending on experience and capability.
