  • Job Summary: The successful candidate will serve as a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Cultural Resources Specialist at Fort Gordon, Georgia, in support of the Fort Gordon Environmental Division.
  • Job Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in archeology, historic architecture, historic preservation, or related cultural resources management field.  A Master’s degree is desired. Knowledge of the NEPA process and requirements and relevant laws and regulations. Proficient with MS Office Suite and database management. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to speak publicly. Ability to work independently once direction is provided. Ability to pass a government background investigation and drug screening. A valid driver’s license.

The candidate will support NEPA compliance and Cultural Resources requirements on the Installation. Prepare NEPA documents, real estate environmental documents, and other related environmental documents. Update and maintain the MS Access NEPA database. Conduct field inspections for NEPA compliance. Prepare, review, and provide comments on various plans and reports, such as the historic building surveys, Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP), historic preservation plans, and archaeological surveys. Conduct annual inspections of historic properties, sites, and structures. Conduct site field inspections to determine the potential effects of military field training, construction, and other projects on historic properties, locations, and structures. Prepare updates to Fort Gordon’s ICRMP. Prepare documents, reports, photographs, displays, etc., required to fulfill MOAs between Fort Gordon, the Georgia SHPO, and culturally affiliated, federally recognized Indian tribes. Prepare reports and briefings, participate in environmental planning meetings, and conduct outreach.
