🔗GLO – Alamo Restoration Project Manager (Project Manager IV)

  • Job Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    ·         Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in architecture, project management, historic architecture, restoration and preservation, or construction administration.

    ·         Four (4) years’ experience in supervision and project management of building restoration and preservation projects.

    ·         Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

    ·         Travel between San Antonio (Alamo) and Austin (GLO Office) as needed with reliable transportation.

    –       If Austin resident; travel to Alamo twice a week.

    –       If San Antonio resident; travel to GLO Office in Austin once a week.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    ·         Previous experience in historic structure restoration and preservation.

    ·         Working relationship with the Texas Historical Commission.

    ·         Knowledge and understanding of the history of the Alamo.

    ·         Understanding of the design and construction of museum facilities.

    ·         Current San Antonio resident.

    Physical Requirements:

    This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.

Texas General Land Office

The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Project Manager (Alamo Project Manager) within the Heritage (Archives and Records) Department of the agency.

The Alamo Project Manager will perform advanced (senior-level) project management work. Work involves coordinating the planning and initiation of diverse projects at various levels of completion; monitoring the progress and schedule of projects; and communicating with project stakeholders, management, and other relevant parties. May direct, assign, and evaluate the work of project staff. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment..

Our Mission:
The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources.

What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:

·         Monitors and management of project costs to ensure the project is completed within budget.  Monitors and manages project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the terms of the project contract or specifications.

·         Coordinates with Construction Services policies and procedures and GLO (Alamo) on grants monitoring, document, and appropriation and filings for Alamo.

·         Oversees and coordinates Alamo and related historic project activities at the Alamo Complex with other state agencies, governmental jurisdictions, the Alamo Endowment, and/or private sector partners, contractors, and subcontractors.

·         Directs, develops and evaluates all Alamo and applicable GLO projects with the Texas Historical Commission using accepted project management methodologies.

·         Compiles and distributes project information, project status reports, and project budget expenditures to Alamo, Construction Services, and executive management.

Develops project budgets, schedules, work plans, resource requirements, and cost estimates and projections for historic projects and renovations.  Initiates projects, obtains authorization and commitment, and demonstrates business need and project feasibility.

Eligible NCPE interns who successfully complete their internships may count their position towards earning a Public Land Corps (PLC) Non-Competitive Hiring Authority certificate. To be eligible to earn a PLC certificate, an intern must be 30 years old or younger (or 35 if a veteran). Once earned, the PLC hiring authority certificate may be used to apply for eligible Federal temporary, term, or permanent positions. Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must be
*at least 18 years old;
*no older than 30 years of age (or 35 years if a Veteran) when beginning the internship; applicants who are 31 or older (or 36 or older if a Veteran) are not eligible;
*currently enrolled in a degree-seeking academic program at the college level (or recently graduated within the past 12 months)
*be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.

Interns are not allowed to work more than 1200 hours total in the program; previous interns must stay within this overall limit. The length of an internship can vary from 10 to 30 weeks if full-time (40 hours per week) or longer if on a part-time schedule. If selected, the exact starting date will be determined by you and the NPS supervisor. The stipend rate is $17.00 per hour unless otherwise listed.

The successful candidate is responsible for finding and paying for travel to and housing at the internship location; some exceptions apply. The supervising office may be able to assist in locating housing but it is ultimately up to the individual accepting the internship to find accommodation.

The National Council requires all interns working in-person at Federal facilities and/or with Federal employees receive the Covid-19 vaccination. Please be advised that you may also be required to wear a mask, depending on the protocols adopted by your work site. Also be aware that, due to Government-wide security requirements, a background check will be required if you are selected for a position. This will include providing information about recent housing and employment history. The position supervisor will have more information about these requirements and procedures at the time of hiring. Please note that interns are not NCPE or NPS employees. Stipends are academic awards and taxes are not withheld, nor are social security contributions made on your behalf. These funds may be taxable, however, so consult a tax preparation professional if you have questions.

These may be unofficial transcripts if official versions are unavailable. A PDF is preferred, labeled Your Your Last Name_Your First Name_Transcript. (2) a resume or CV (curriculum vitae).
