  • Job Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have these qualifications:

    • Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History.
    • Currently possess a Master’s Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation or a closely related field.
    • 2-4 years of fulltime professional Architectural Historian experience including conducting historic resource surveys and background research.
    • Demonstrated ability to carry projects to completion.
    • Prior experience working on projects related to Section 106 of the NHPA is a must.
    • Working knowledge of building types in Florida and the Southeast United States and an understanding of how to effectively evaluate resources for the NRHP is preferred.
    • Additional experience and/or a general understanding of NEPA, transportation and infrastructure industries, state and local governments regulatory and compliance sector is a plus!

We are currently seeking an Architectural Historian to join our growing Cultural Resources team.

This position will require the following skillsets:

  •  Ability to lead and conduct historic resource field surveys
  • Historical research including deed, primary, and secondary source materials
  • Technical report writing, including architectural descriptions and NRHP evaluations, as well as assessment of effects document
  • Historic context writing and writing for public history endeavors
  • Proficiency in digital photography
  • Knowledge of architectural types and styles in Florida and in the Southeastern United States.
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks within a given budget and timeframe
  • Excellent communication skills with NDN team members as well as with clients
  • Willing to work as part of a collaborative team as a valuable member of the NDN Cultural Resources Division and as a part of the NDN family.
  • Ease in using InDesign, Photoshop, and GIS is beneficial
