  • Job Summary: The summer intern will work directly with the Vermont Architectural Historian. The candidate will be exposed to archival research, architectural survey, and the role documentation plays in the preservation of historic properties.
  • Job Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualification
    Ideally the candidate will be pursuing or just have received an undergraduate or graduate degree in a cultural resource related field (i.e. architectural history, historic preservation, archaeology, anthropology, history, public history).

Architectural Historian

Project Summary
1. National Register of Historic Places: Create list of coordinates for individually listed properties in select locations to be added to the Planning Atlas
2. State Register of Historic Places: prepare draft nomination for at least one property
3. Prepare draft guidance of “how to complete a Vermont Architectural Resource Inventory Form”
4. Create a Vermont Landscape Inventory (VLI) form and survey at least one property
5. Complete the Vermont Cemetery Inventory form for at least one property
The summer intern will work directly with the Vermont Architectural Historian. The candidate will be exposed to archival research, architectural survey, and the role documentation plays in the preservation of historic properties.

Project Coordination and Management
The candidate shall be assigned to work directly with the State Architectural Historian. The State Historic Preservation Officer will serve as the immediate supervisor for the term of the internship. Opportunities to work remotely and at Division for Historic Preservation offices in Montpelier.
